No Skytrain? No big loss

Moving sidewalks around downtown Richmond, aerial tram rides from Richmond Square to Lansdowne, shuttle transport, lots more buses, trams, etc., are all worth considering but let's not join the municipalities and cities that have SkyTrain mania. The Vancouver Sun article by Gerry Bellett (Dec. 5) reports Judge Bryon Davis' comment: "Gang attacks against SkyTrain users is becoming so common it is frightening". This story confirms our own opinions that SkyTrain is a "pipeline for criminals" as well as a very convenient fast escape vehicle for perpetrators of crimes. If you are wondering what SkyTrain would be like in Richmond go to the Main Street or New Westminster SkyTrain stations and observe the unsavory characters (in our opinion) loitering around these stations. Joining them does not appeal to us. We wish our elected representatives would not be so quick to jump on the bandwagon and push for this very dubious service in Richmond. Let's think more seriously about the future ramifications first.
