Cambie community centre organizers are putting together a slew of activities during the Spring break week later this month. March 17, Newton Wave Pool; March 18, Bowling at Top Gun; March 19, Mystery program; March 20, Maplewood farms; March 21, Stardust Roller Rink. Register: 273-3394.


Children's peace murals
The Vancouver International Airport will be the site of the opening celebration of Kids Guernica on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m., when 12 international children's peace murals will be unveiled in the new departures area. On Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m., Richard Tetrault will give a presentation to the winners and their families on the Kids Guernica project during a pre-workshop presentation at the Richmond library/cultural centre. The actual workshop will be held in the cultural centre rotunda on Monday, March 17 at 10 a.m. The Canada mural will be unveiled on March 27 at 7 p.m. at the library.


For Kids Only
The Richmond Museum presents a Spring Break Program for kids only, entitled Bread and Butter with Kids at the Farm. The event takes place on Wednesday, March 19 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at London Farm, 6511 Dyke Rd. Story teller Jim Charlie of the Squamish Nation will help children experience the magic of traditional Northwest Coast storytelling during First Nations Day on Thursday, March 20 from 10:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. Info: 231-6457.


Steveston community centre programs
Spring Club for preschoolers, March 17-21, 9:30 to 11 a.m.; Spring Break programs for 6-12-year-olds, March 17-21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; English, French Immersion and Cadre preschool programs begin May 3, 9 a.m. (siblings of past Steveston preschool participants may register April 19, 9 a.m.); Mighty Minis, a drop-in program for parents and tots (0 to 3 years). Climbing apparatus, riding toys, balls, crafts and songs. Wed 9:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Fri. 9:15 a.m. Spring registration at the Steveston community centre can be done in person on March 12 at 7 p.m. or by phone on March 13 at 9 a.m. Fax and mailed registration is currently being accepted, but will not be processed until March 13. Pysanky: Ukrainian Easter egg painting
Pysanky artist Joan Brander will host Pysanky: Ukrainian Easter Egg Painting at London Farm House, 6511 Dyke Road, on Saturday, March 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. All materials are provided. Cost: $12 per person. For information or to register: 231-6457.


Easter Egg Hunt
Pre-schoolers ages five and younger are invited to the Steveston community centre on Saturday, March 29 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Pre-register at 277-6812. A similar event for children ages six to 12 will begin on the same day from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.


Children's storytelling contest
Registration continues for the 5th annual children's Chinese storytelling competition which will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Aberdeen Centre. Children will be grouped into two categories: juniors ages 4 to 8, and seniors ages 9 to 12. Info. 278-9811 (ext. 638)


Richmond Community Music School
Openings for children ages 4-5 years in the "Suzuki" violin classes and children's "ORFF" classes. Also, Children's Choir, for kids ages 6-12 years at William Bridge elementary. Info: 272-5227.


Steveston Parent and Tot
Group meets every Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Steveston United Church. Non-profit, parent participation, non-denominational group. Info: Sheilagh Rally at 271-0497.


Youth Club
Hosted by West Richmond community centre's Out of School Care for 9-12 year olds. Designed for children too old for regular out of school care, but too young to stay at home, participants will take on challenging outdoor activities, educational excursions and many outrip destinations, run 3-6 p.m. 277-9812.


Spring Break Acting Camp
