Johns edges Myden to win 200 medley
As a rookie member of Canada's national swim team, Brian Johns made a big splash at the Sydney Olympics last summer.
The Richmond man helped the 4-by-200-metre relay team set a new Canadian standard of 7:21.40 and a bronze medal.
But Johns, who's just 18, isn't resting on his laurels as he swims toward the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.
Currently on tour in Europe, he won a 200-metre individual medley race at Mare Nostrum in 2:03.2, his best in-season time. He edged out Australian Olympian Grant McGregor, and, for the first time in a long course race, Canadian Olympian Curtis Myden.
Johns was also fifth in the 200-metre freestyle at the meet.
