Basketball. B.C. seeking nominations for hall of fame
Basketball B.C. is establishing a hall of fame.
The provincial organization, based in Richmond, wants to recognize and pay tribute to those British Columbians who have distinguished themselves and made major contributions to the development of the sport.
"A hall of fame is long overdue and now we will be able to properly celebrate the successes of the men and women who have had a positive impact on our sport at the local, national and international level," said Basketball B.C. president john Buis.
Basketball B.C. is seeking nominations in six categories: athletes, teams, coaches, officials, builders and patrons.
- Athletes are competitors who, while Canadian citizens living in B.C., have participated at an elite level and achieved extraordinary success. Must be retired from active participation at their highest level for five years.
- Teams must be made up of Canadian athletes living in B.C. and representing B.C. or a Canadian organization bringing prominence to the sport. Teams must be five years removed from their significant milestone.
- Coaches are individuals whose efforts in the development and training of athletes have made an extraordinary contribution to the sport, resulting in the promotion and development of the game provincially, nationally, or internationally. Must be retired for two years up to age 60, no mandatory length of retirement after.
- Officials are individuals whose efforts in the training of officials or in the performance of their duties have exhibited extraordinary skill, expertise and commitment resulting in the development of the game. Must be retired for two years up to age 60, no mandatory length of retirement after.
- Builders are individuals who have made outstanding contributions towards the advancement of basketball in B.C., and without restricting the generality of the foregoing, may include administrators, officials, trainers, managers, coaches, therapists, etc.
- Patrons are individuals, companies or other groups who have made outstanding, significant, long; term contributions to basketball in 13.C. through . awards, grants, sponsorships or other financial contributions.

The first induction ceremony will be held April 26 at the Marriott Hotel in Richmond during Basketball B.C.'s annual awards banquet.
John nets 21 versus X-Men
One Time is on a roll.
Led by the steady play of forward Sherlan John, who scored. 21 points, and getting 18 more points from guard Damon Rozier, the West Cost Basketball League team notched its seventh win Sunday downing the X-Men 75-65 at The Basketball Centre.
Derek Christiansen scored 29 points for the X-Men;. who with the loss fell to 5-4 on the season.
In other action, the Golgis edged the Beat Warriors 72-71 in another close contest typical of games between the two teams.
After taking a full court pass from Rick Mesich with just a few ticks left on the clock, Matt Lechasseur threw up a buzzer-beating trey. Lechasseur finished the game with 14 points, while Scott Elliot had 19 for the Golgis.
Beau Mitchell had 38 and Steve Lee 21 for the Beat Warriors who led all the way until Lechasseur's heroics.
A game between the Mustangs and NT went from a toss-up to a blowout in a span of just six minutes.
Trailing 23-19 early in the game, NT went on a 30-3 run in the second quarter en route to a 103-75 victory.
Steve Dynie and Anthony Booker led the NT scoring with 24 and 23 points respectively, while Kris English dropped 25 for the Mustangs.
The Rim Gods managed to put together their first winning streak of the season, claiming two in a row after earning a default victory over the Meralomas.
