It’s the ticket

SUNDAY: 8 a.m., Minoru Park. Paralympic Games’ marathon silver medalist Kelly Smith heads the wheelchair field at the Richmond Flatlands 10-kilometre road race. Alan Bergman and Karen March, both of the Canadian Paralympic team, are also entered in the race which begins at 8:25 a.m., followed by the running race at 8:30.

MONDAY: 3:30 p.m., Honda Park. Richmond Juvenile Division high school boys’ soccer play continues with Cambie facing McMath. Also on tap: South Delta at McNair and Delta versus Richmond High at Palmer.

THURSDAY: All day, Minoru Arenas. It’s the debut of the World Junior Badminton Championships in North America. Be sure to get out and watch the birdies fly as the top young players in the world compete for a shot at playing at the Olympics.

FRIDAY: 7 p.m., Richmond Ice Centre. The Richmond Sockeyes play host to the North Delta Flyers in Pacific International Junior Hockey League action.

By the numbers

Potential Olympians, including 10 Connaught figure skaters, competed in the Whistler Cup last weekend. Locals won three medals.

Juvenile Ladies: Gloria Chong 4th, Alanna DeMello 5th, Steffanie Anne Roy 14th.

Juvenile Men: Dylan Archambault 2nd, Kurtis Hori 3rd, Michael Chang 4th.

Pre-novice Ladies: Cecylia Witkowski 2nd, Rika Inoda 5th.

Novice Ladies: Alyssia Leong (withdrew due to injury).

Junior Men: Calvin Lefebvre 5th.
