eBooks on

Let's borrow some eBooks.

1. Open the Overdrive Media Console app.

  • Press the menu button on your phone
  • Tap "Get books"
  • Tap "Richmond Public Library"
select the library's site

Your Vox's browser will open up and go to the library's downloadable site.

2. Use the Browse Fiction or Browse NonFiction links if you have no particular titles or authors in mind, or tap View More... to browse the eBooks by genres, like Biography, Cooking, Historical Fiction, and more!.

  • If you're browsing and you want to see only books that are available, toggle the Available Now button. 

  • 3. Or, use the Search button to look for a specific book.

  • Want to limit your search even more? Use the Advanced Search function. You can limit by format, subject, publisher, and more!

  • Make sure you're looking at eBooks only (not audiobooks!) by clicking the option.


    4. Found a book you like? If it's available, it will have a black book icon at the top right corner of the book cover. If it's out right now, the book icon will be greyed out:  


    To Place a Hold tap the book cover to open its record. Tap the "Place a Hold" button and enter your email address. You'll receive and email when the book is ready for you to borrow.

    To Borrow the eBook just tap the Borrow button

    5. Sign in with your Richmond Public Library card and your PIN (usually the last 4 digits of your phone number). You can check the box next to Remember my login information so you don't have to enter your number every time

    Once a book is checked out to you, it will be in the Bookshelf section of your Account until its expiry date
