Richmond, BC – Together with the library’s Teen Ambassadors (TAMBAs), a volunteer leadership group of Richmond teens that meets regularly at the Brighouse library, Richmond Public Library (RPL) is inviting local youth to enter the first ever Very Short Story creative writing contest. This contest is designed for aspiring writers and will celebrate originality and creativity.
Submissions must be an original work, written on any subject or theme, and can be a maximum of 300 words in length. The contest is now open and submissions will be accepted until April 29. All teens ages 13 to 18 are welcome to enter.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony on May 6 as part of the library’s celebration of Youth Week. There will be three prizes awarded, consisting of Indigo gift cards and book prizes. In addition, the winning submissions will be displayed at the Brighouse library for the whole community to enjoy.
“I’m excited and honored to be a judge for the contest and celebrate writers that spark emotion, curiosity, and wonder with their words,” says one of the TAMBAs, who will be part of the judging panel. “I love seeing the creativity and heart that writers pour into their stories and it’s inspiring to experience so many unique perspectives.”
